As the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team ended preseason action, the team voted on the 2010 team captains. Seniors Scott Foreman, Brandon Freeman and Andrew Stimmel received the honor to lead the team. Foreman is no stranger to the leadership position. He was also the team captain at his high school, Calvert Hall, in Timonium, Md. Foreman is a starting defenseman for the Buckeyes and also the 2009-2010 recipient of the Michael Robert Breschi Memorial Scholarship, the highest honor in the Buckeye lacrosse program. Foreman was honored at the team banquet for his leadership. Freeman came to Ohio State in 2007 from Salem, N.H., and received scholar-athlete honors his freshman year. As a junior and starting goalie, Freeman was the named the Defensive MVP. Freeman also received second team All-Greater Western Lacrosse League honors. He had more than ten saves last season. Last season Freeman was No. 27 in the NCAA in saves. Stimmel, a midfielder from Murrysville, Pa., has been with the Buckeyes for three seasons. He started in 2007 with the Nittany Lions of Penn State. After transferring in 2008, Stimmel started in all but one game. Most notable in 2008 was his goal against Duke in the NCAA tournament. In 2009, he started all 16 games. Stimmel received the Buckeye Power Club award in 2009 and is also a scholar-athlete award. All three seniors are starting the 2010 season.
